My Research

I have been working on an embedded system with the Army Educational Outreach Program from the summer of 2023 until the summer of 2024. This system can create chemical compounds without the need for human intervention, which could have applications in the medical field. Thus far, I've been putting in roughly ten hours a week throughout the semester in Dr. Goel's lab to reach our objective. Research on the enormous task I've set, "Engineering the Tools of Scientific Discovery," demands me to create a device with various potential uses in order to advance scientific discovery by improving lab efficiency for chemists conducting research. Through assisting graduate students, other Students studying mechanical engineering, along with my professor provided me with a more polished workplace and really improved my research abilities.

Why I Chose My Grand Challenge

Throughout my research, I refined my skills in terms of cooperation, communication, creativity, application, and overcoming hurdles. Given the guidance that I received, I was able to expand my skills and work on things I've never worked on before. Whether it was writing status reports, learning new coding languages, 3-D printing, CAD modeling, designing circuits, etc. I was able to learn new skills that can applied in future workplaces and in projects that I believe in. That is why I chose my grand challenge, not only can my research positively impact the world's scientific knowledge, but along the way, I can also gain valuable experience doing so.
